  • The Science Behind the System

    I’ve played golf for nearly 25 years and have spent more than 15 years teaching the game. One thing that experience has made clear is this: golf is hard enough without unnecessary confusion.

    When I began playing in 2000, instruction was simple. Most of my coaches identified a problem and gave me a focused drill to improve it. Today, golfers are flooded with complicated swing theories from TikTok and YouTube, often without understanding how the swing actually works. While modern instruction has become more complex, the game itself hasn’t changed — it’s still governed by physics, ball flight laws, and how the human body moves.

    That’s where my teaching system lives. I combine proven scientific principles with simple, targeted instruction to create fast, clear, and long-lasting improvement. Technology plays an important role, but only when it serves the golfer, not overwhelms them. Swing video, launch data, and motion sensors help me measure what’s happening — not guess. My system is built on three pillars: Observe, Understand, and Implement.

  • Observe

    Observing what is happening in your swing is the first step in the Mark Rippy Golf Teaching System. My golf lessons include:

    Using swing video, ball flight laws, and measured data, I diagnose what’s actually happening at impact and throughout the motion. This removes opinions and assumptions and replaces them with objective feedback based on physics and cause-and-effect.

  • Understand

    The second step in the Mark Rippy Golf Teaching System in to Understand. After observing your problem, we have to understand the root cause of your problem. This is where most golfers, and instructors who don't use technology in their lessons, get stuck. Often times focusing too much on the visual symptoms. The information provided by swing video, rada and wrist data give us a clear understanding of the root cause. Which is why I encourage every golfer to work with a golf instructor who uses these technologies.

  • Implement

    The last step of the Mark Rippy Golf Teaching System is to implement the fix. Understanding alone doesn’t create change — movement does. Implementation is accomplished through targeted drills designed to improve the human movement system. These drills retrain how the body moves, how forces are applied to the club, and how those changes show up in ball flight. The goal isn’t to “think swing,” but to train better patterns that hold up on the course.
